1 John 2:6 (HCSB)

“The one who says he remains in Him should walk just as He walked.”

Intro: How often we have heard someone say you can talk the talk but can you walk the walk. That is a good question probably all most all of us here have a relationship with Christ we walked the isle and received Christ as Savior, we spoke that and the church confirmed. How many have gone beyond the speaking of it to the action of it? Walking the walk. I am sure if I asked you if you were a disciple you would respond with a yes but are you a disciple maker? The Bible tells us if we truly love Him we will walk just as He walked!

Matthew 28:18-20 (HCSB)

18 Then Jesus came near and said to them, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Application: Disciples are to be Disciple makers.

“I am the vine; you are the branches. The one who remains in Me and I in him produces much fruit, because you can do nothing without Me.” John 15:5 (HCSB)

What is a disciple? A disciple is someone who is remaining in Christ and doing what Jesus did.

We must truly Love the Lord: Matthew 22:37-40 (HCSB) 37 He said to him, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. 38 This is the greatest and most important command. 39 The second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. 40 All the Law and the Prophets depend on these two commands.”

If we truly love the Lord and follow His command not only will we love Him but we will love our neighbor by telling them who Christ is, that is a disciple maker!

Let’s look at this Great Commandment Matrix.

Love for God, Love for others. I want you to give thought to where you are with this:

Love for God - Religion Centered / Self Centered / Man Centered / Christ Centered - Love for Others

Religion-Centered: Legalistic, ritualistic, tradition.
Self-Centered: All about self.
Man-Centered: Says: No God, don’t want to know, lost.
Christ-Centered: They are walking as Christ walked; they love God and have a love for others they are disciple makers. This is a healthy Disciple!

What is a healthy Church?

The dimensions of a healthy Disciple are also the dimensions of a healthy Church. The Desired outcome – Discipleship!

Worship: that is Christ Centered, preaching the Gospel!
Community: telling everyone that Jesus saves and the sinner can be forgiven and receive Christ as Lord
Mission: But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem
, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. Acts 1:8 (KJV)

If Ocean View is a healthy church and walk as He walked if we understand how the Great Commandment Matrix works we must be Christ Centered in all we do and be Disciple Makers!

Thank You Southern Baptist Convention for this information and your desire to see this denomination create a culture of Disciple-making disciples and a healthy church!
